Since its foundation in 1984, one of the core aims of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie has been to appear at not just one venue, but also throughout the Rhône-Alpes and at major international concert venues. With more than 80 concerts each year, from Boëge to the Lyon Auditorium, from Lanslebourg to the Salle Gaveau in Paris, from the Grange au Lac in Évian to the Victoria Hall in Geneva and the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, thousands of listeners are able to delight in the sound of classical music.

Approachable, widely known and committed to its art, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie is a special guest at numerous summer festivals, including the Festival Berlioz in La Côte-Saint-André, Rencontres Musicales in Évian, Les Arts Jaillissants in Montsapey and the Château de Clermont summer festival.

Under the leadership of Nicolas Chalvin since 2009, the orchestra has embraced a varied repertoire, from Bach to the most contemporary compositions. It appears in collaboration with international soloists (François-Frédéric Guy, Renaud Capuçon, Tedi Papavrami, Anne Gastinel, Sophie Karthäuser, Karine Deshayes and Marianna Pizzolato), and enjoys expanding its range of orchestral colours in collaborative projects with ensembles such as the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and the Chœurs et Solistes de Lyon.

Keen to share and transmit their passion for music, the 23 permanent musicians (19 strings, 2 oboes, 2 horns) are also committed to the orchestra’s outreach programmes, through multiple concerts and awareness-raising initiatives, in music schools, retirement homes, schools, hospitals and prisons.

Welcoming the future, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie keeps ahead of the times with innovative concerts, pushing back the boundaries of the genre with, for example, musical events featuring œnology and gastronomy, participation in the CD-book Un jour au concert avec les Bidochon mixing classical music with humour, or a concert on the summit of Mont Blanc…

The special rapport built with its audiences, its deep attachment to the region, and its innovative approach enable the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie to bring together businesses implanted in the region, through the Amadeus corporate sponsors club, and, thanks to its Cercle des Amis (Friends of the orchestra), all those who are passionate about music.
