The orchestra and its soloists will take part in an outreach scheme, meeting with people who are unable to attend concerts. These encounters will take them into schools, hospitals and prisons. The musicians will meet with small groups, and will present their instruments, thereby creating special links with listeners.
The orchestra continues its activities for those in hospitals, retirement homes and prisons. For certain concerts, seats are offered to charitable and social organisations, enabling many people to attend events.
“Concerts découverte” (discovery concerts)
The aim of the “Concerts découverte” (discovery concerts) is to reduce barriers to classical music for the whole family. The series is presented by the conductor and facilitates audience contact with the repertoire for the nineteen string instruments, two oboes and two French horns that make up the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie. The events can easily be adapted to a variety of venues and circumstances. Some concerts give rise to shared music making with amateur or other professional musicians during the first half of the programme. Hour-long concerts during school hours or in the early evening will also be given.
Pre-concert short conferences
Upon presenter’s request, a free short conference can be given before the concert
Chamber music is a natural offshoot of orchestral playing. Ensembles including three to six orchestra members help to make closer contact with school children and others by coming directly to them.
